Fall:
Follow the route of 16 whooping cranes to their winter home down south. They left on October 14, 2007 and are following an ultra-light plane at 35 miles an hour. A day-to-day update is given at: operationmigration.org/Field_Journal.html
The movie Fly Away Home (1996) is a good family movie, which is based on the concept that wild fowl can be trained to fly safer migrating routes.
With football season here don't miss the movie: Facing The Giants
Winter:
Get ready for the Iditarod that starts on March 3, 2007 this year. Follow the race daily and root for your favorite musher and his dog team, while viewing beautiful Alaska scenic routes through mountain passes and little towns. Go to: iditarod.com/ or scholastic.com/activities/iditarod and learn about the Jr. Iditarod where fourteen through seventeen year-olds compete on the 9 to 17 day race.
The Anchorage Daily News at adn.com/iditarod gives a day by day account of each race. You can view the 2006 race now, and then view the 2007 race each day when it starts. Other sites that cover the race daily can be found on Google.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. See the movies: The Navtivity, Happy Feet, and Hadessah
Spring:
Get ready for baseball, softball, and soccer roundup.
With Passover, Easter, March 23rd and Pentecost Sunday, April 20th, expect miracles throughout these two months and rest of the year. Also the 40-year cycle from 1967 to 2007 is completing this year. God moves in cycles. We've been in the wilderness long enough. (See if you can find out what happened in 1967.) 2008 is the year of New Beginnings. Get ready! Get ready! Get ready!
Don't forget the National Day of Prayer on May 3rd.
